About the Collection

annefkiernan-speak 1.jpg

This series is a bubbling up of prayer that is meant to be both vertical and horizontal.

Our voices matter. What we say matters. With it we can foster community, be an expression of love, release joy, accept peace, and be a kind truth-teller. Each piece is meant to embrace a bit of the awkwardness and uncertainty of finding the words, while also contemplating what could be if we trusted the voice we’ve been given just a bit more. -Anne Kiernan

About the Artist

afk headshot.JPG

Born in rural Kentucky, Anne F. Kiernan began her life as an artist inspired by the colors and images that surrounded her on her family’s farm. From the time she was a child, with a bucket of crayons as a constant companion, she has practiced creating and creativity throughout her life.

After moving to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2007, she focused her art toward two-dimensional mixed-media. In the last five years, however, Anne has turned toward creating nonrepresentational abstract paintings. Most recently she is working specifically with acrylic paint on watercolor canvas, exploring light, space, and movement through bright color palettes.

For Anne, her work isn’t just about the art itself. It’s about the brave act of creativity. She embraces childlike play in her work, capturing the peace and joy seated within her core. Her hope is that with each both act of creativity, others are invited to discover and explore the inherent creativity within themselves.

”Beauty and creativity have access into people's lives and hearts in ways that teaching and information never will. Any form of creativity that brings people together in community, inspires a smile, encourages hope, releases peace or increases joy isn't a silly hobby, but a powerful and important weapon against anything that aims to steal, kill and destroy.”
